I feel like every few days I find a new hip place in Woodstock. This isn’t actually all that surprising given the renewal that the area is going through. Another of these places is the particularly awesome The Kitchen (111 Sir Lowry Rd).
A small shop not far from the Castle and across the street from some art galleries, the Kitchen’s main thing is sandwiches. Or as Karen, the proprietor, told me “killer sandwiches.” With many to choose from I just picked the first that piqued my curiosity: the honey mustard sausage sandwich. This came on a bun with pestos and greens and tapenades. I had it with not one but three side salads: barley, wild rice; and beet root with carrot.
The entire meal was both delicious and filling. “Killer”, almost unbelievably, is an apt description for their sandwiches and the side salads were all interesting and good.
Furthermore, it was good value. The entire meal (sandwich, three side salads and a Coke) easily came in under R60.
I’m going back. I suggest you check it out if you haven’t been yet.
